Advice and resources for climbing walls

From advice on creating a new climbing facility, to resources for the operation and management of indoor climbing walls. Mountaineering Scotland is here to help you!

We are keen to support and develop climbing facilities in Scotland that will provide more fantastic opportunities for people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds to get involved in climbing.

Mountaineering Scotland will actively encourage the development of new walls in Scotland in line with the agreed Strategy. This may include new-build projects or upgrades to existing walls; they may be private ventures, charitable projects, and local authority facilities.

This service is available for Schools, Local Authorities, and youth organisations who are ClimbScotland partners and work with us to promote climbing through there activity and engagement with young people.

We have a wide range of resources available from safety posters/notices to climbing wall operator manuals. Make sure you are up to speed with everything you need to know about providing a safe and fun climbing environment.

Thinking of developing a new or existing climbing facility? Looking for funding for climbing wall development? Then it’s worth reading our strategy to make that amazing idea a reality. We work closely with sportscotland and big lottery.
