Local climbing competitions

In Scotland we have a vibrant local climbing competition scene. These competition are run by individual climbing wall venues and are made to be as accessible as possible to cater for all ages, levels and abilities across a variety of climbing disciplines.

Competitions types include:

  • Winter Bouldering Series: A series of fun bouldering competitions taking place throughout the winter months by host venues. Great fun for all!

  • Leading Ladder: Usually consists of a timed window (For example: 2 weeks) to complete pre-set competition routes at a climbing host climbing walls, sometimes a final is held too.

  • Charity events: fun climbing comps of various formats raising money for worthy causes.
  • Dry Tooling: These competitions usually entail bouldering and top-roping routes using ice axes and are usually held indoors. They are organised in a similar manner to normal ‘rock climbing’ competitions with height gained giving an increasing number of points. Find out more at the British Tooling Series website.
