Finding a mountain hut

Huts offer simple and affordable places to stay in some superb locations for hill-walking and climbing across Scotland.

National huts

There are three Scottish national huts. Two of these, the Glen Brittle War Memorial Hut (GBMH) and Mill Cottage, are held in  trust and operated as Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisations (SCIOs). The third hut, the Alex MacIntyre Memorial Hut (AMMH), is held in a basic trust jointly by Mountaineering Scotland and the BMC. These huts are open both to Mountaineering Scotland-affiliated clubs and to individual members.

Club huts

In addition, there are currently 22 other huts operated by mountaineering clubs. All these huts accept bookings from affiliated club groups and a number of them also offer places to individual Mountaineering Scotland members (subject to availability).

Map search

The map below details the location of all national and club huts. Click on a map pin to find out more information and booking details. Hovering the cursor over the pin will display the hut’s name. Where a number is displayed on a pin it indicates that there is more than one hut in that area. Clicking on the number will zoom in and show the individual huts.

You can also download the full Huts Directory with prices and booking conditions for all national and club huts (you will need to 'enable pop-ups' to open this PDF).
