Finding a mountain hut

Huts offer simple and affordable places to stay in some superb locations for hill-walking and climbing across Scotland.

There are three Scottish national huts. Two of these, the Alex MacIntyre Memorial Hut and the Glen Brittle War Memorial Hut, are held in trust jointly by Mountaineering Scotland and the BMC. The third hut, Mill Cottage, is operated by an independent trust, some of whose trustees are ex officio Mountaineering Scotland elected office-bearers. These huts are open both to Mountaineering Scotland-affiliated clubs and to individual members.

In addition, there are currently 22 other huts listed in the Mountaineering Scotland Huts Directory which are, with two exceptions, operated by Scottish clubs. All these huts accept bookings from affiliated clubs and there are also a number of huts which also offer places to individual Mountaineering Scotland members, subject to availability.

The map below details the location of all national and club huts. Hovering the cursor over the pin will display the hutís name. Where a number is displayed on a pin it indicates that there is more than one hut in that area. Clicking on the number will zoom in and show the individual huts. Click on a map pin to find out more information and booking details.

You can also download the full Huts Directory with prices and booking conditions for all national and club huts.
