This service is available for Schools, Local Authorities, and youth organisations who are ClimbScotland partners and work with us to promote climbing through there activity and engagement with young people. This is a bespoke service that aims to support youth engagement in climbing through the development of facilities.
Our route-setters can give advice on what is most appropriate for walls for children of all ages, what style and type of holds to use or purchase and the setting of suitable routes.
The service offers:
Setters with extensive experience at setting for all ages and abilities.
Experienced setters for youth competitions.
Setters that have extensive experience of route-setting for Mountaineering Scotland, BMC and International competitions.
Setters that have been trained in route-setting to Mountaineering Scotland’s agreed safe standards to ensure their own safety whilst working.
Setters who are experienced in setting complex routes on walls to minimise any risk of injury from falls and swings into other areas of the wall.
Conditions
The client must supply all holds and fixings.
The client is responsible for the safety of the climbing wall and any belay points used by our setters.
The client may supply equipment (e.g. ropes) for use by setters, but both parties must check their safety before use.
The Setters will supply their own personal climbing equipment and be responsible for its safe condition.
Routes are set using best practice and are fit for use at the end of setting.
It must be emphasised that holds do work loose over time and it is the responsibility of the client to maintain regular checks post setting.
