Scotland’s Mountains: Stories Written in Stone

Scotland’s mountains aren’t just stunning—they’re storytellers. Every ridge, corrie, and glen reveals secrets of Earth’s 4-billion-year history. From ancient continents colliding to glaciers carving the landscapes we climb today, the geology beneath our boots brings Scotland’s hills to life.

Join Dr Tony Prave, geologist and Emeritus Professor at the University of St Andrews, for an online presentation that will uncover the incredible story written in Scotland’s rocks. With a career spanning the Arctic to African deserts and an award-winning contribution to Scottish geology (Clough Medal, 2024), Tony will uncover Scotland’s geology, showing us also how our mountains connect to global geological events.

After the talk, enjoy an interactive Q&A—your chance to ask about the landscapes you love to explore.
