Behind the scenes with Mountain Rescue

Join our new ‘Get to know mountain rescue’ course and discover who mountain rescue volunteers are, their vital role in the Scottish mountains, and how rescue operations unfold. Throughout this interactive session, you’ll learn about safety procedures, communication methods, and the step-by-step planning and process of a successful rescue. By the end you’ll have a clearer understanding of the teamwork and skills involved in mountain rescue and some of the key kit and equipment used.

The cost of this course will include a donation to Scottish Mountain Rescue.

What you'll learn

  • How to call out Mountain Rescue
  • Understanding Mountain Rescue Teams and resources
  • The rescue process
  • Basic first aid and care for casualties

We cannot guarantee all skills will be covered, as we would like to cover things well, rather than rushing through to cover everything.

For people who are fit enough to enjoy days out on the hills and high tops, but would prefer to train on terrain that is not too physically demanding.

Most elements of this course will be delivered on ‘track/path’, but we may have sessions off path.

Saturday 27 June - Arrochar

Bookings open soon.
