Discover the hidden life of the Cairngorms uplands in this engaging talk led by Ewan Craig, RSPB warden, exploring the wildlife, habitats and folklore that make Scotland’s highest mountains internationally important and so appealing to every hillwalker and climber.
Ewan will take you through the 'typical' day in the life of a warden who walks up the Cairngorms plateau every day during the summer engaging with walkers and the landscape scale conservation work that takes place there.
This talk is designed for anyone who enjoys the high ground and will cover iconic upland habitats and species such as dotterel, ptarmigan and mountain hare, the challenges they face from climate change and human pressures, and how climbers and hillwalkers can help protect these fragile environments while continuing to enjoy the hills responsibly this summer.
Our very own Catriona Davies, Access and Environment Officer, will be there to answer questions on access rights in relation to conservation.
Proceedings from the tickets will go to 'It's Up to Us' mountain path restoration campaign and RSPB.
