Meet the Ready to Rock instructors

The instructors for the Ready to Rock outdoor rock climbing courses for adults and the climbing support for clubs will be members of AMI, the Association of Mountaineering Instructors and will hold either an MIA or MIC.

The MIA is the Mountaineering Instructor Award, and holders are qualified to instruct mountaineering in non-winter conditions including all aspects of rock climbing, both single and multi-pitch, plus hill walking and scrambling.

The MIC is the Mountaineering Instructor Certificate, which qualifies the holder to instruct all aspects of mountaineering, both summer and winter, including rock climbing, scrambling and technical snow and ice climbing and winter mountaineering.

Instructors will be based in the area listed, but may arrange courses further afield.

Davy has been climbing and mountaineering for over 25 years, throughout the UK and Europe.  Some of his best experiences have been climbing new routes in the western Highlands and on remote mountains in Iceland. Max Hunter.

I started climbing indoors at school and was always interested in getting outside. I joined a university mountaineering club where I finally got out and learnt from peers. I learnt a lot by experience, which is never always the easiest way to progress, but this gave me a passion to help others develop without having to learn to hard way. I started work at local climbing walls and now manage the wall in Stirling where I have established a junior club (Stirling Spiders) and also work with local groups.

I love getting out climbing in summer and winter. Visiting new cliffs and climbing on mountain routes are some of my most memorable and enjoyable days out

Qualifications: I am an MIC holder with development coach training.
