Access to free legal and financial advice for clubs

Clubs affiliated to Mountaineering Scotland are eligible for access to free legal and financial advice.

The scheme is available due to Mountaineering Scotland's relationship with sportscotland, the national agency for sport, which organises an 'Expert Resource Scheme'.

Under the scheme legal advice is provided by HarperMacLeod LLP and financial advice by BDO. Clubs may access up to one-hour's free consultation. Further advice in excess of this may be made available but will be provided on a chargeable basis, for which a quotation will be provided.

  • Clubs seeking legal advice should contact the Mountaineering Scotland CEO in the first instance with brief details of their requirements.

Following an initial discussion, the club's own representative will be able to make direct contact with HarperMacleod LLP or BDO to discuss these matters further.

Harper Macleod provide legal advice and support across a range of areas, including: Governance and Corporate Law; Contract Law; Property Law; Employment Law; and Intellectual Property Law. BDO provide advice on financial matters including tax and charity finances.
