Mountaineering Scotland has over 140 affiliated hillwalking, climbing and ski-touring clubs across Scotland.
Income from club membership subscriptions is vital to enable us to continue our work representing Scotland's mountaineering community and campaigning to protect access rights and mountain landscapes. Find out more about how clubs can pay their subscription and current costs below.
Our club year runs from 1 April to 31 March.
Club membership fees are paid on annual basis on a per member rate. For the year 1 April 2025-31 March 2026 these are:

New members of clubs should be registered and paid for within a month of joining the club. They receive a pro-rata reduction on the full year's membership price (see below) if they have never been a member of an affiliated club before, or within the preceeding club year period (1 April to 31 March).
Please note: For new members joining the club with a previous or lapsed membership (from another club or individual), the system will recognise them as an existing member and charge the full membership rate as it recognises that they have previously held membership. Please contact the membership team and we will process these memberships on your behalf.
To fit into the student terms, the university and college club membership year goes from 1 September to 31 August.
Membership renewal fees will be requested in September and must be paid by no later than end of December.
