Vacancy for ClimbScotland Regional Development Officer

Tuesday 28th March 2017, 11:04am

Mountaineering Scotland is looking to recruit a new Regional Development Officer (RDO) for ClimbScotland.

With a growing membership of over 14,000 members, Mountaineering Scotland is the national governing body for indoor (sport) climbing, and the national representative organisation for mountaineers, hill walkers, climbers and ski-tourers.

The ClimbScotland programme supports and develops indoor climbing, including related activities and competitions, for the age group 7 to 24. Since its launch 2015, ClimbScotland has recruited 40+ partner organisations and clubs which now offer climbing and development opportunities for over 1000 young climbers. It organises and delivers an exciting range of climbing competitions and events which attracted record entries over the last year.

The Regional Development Officer post being advertised will be within the Central Belt / Tayside, and responsibilities will focus on maintaining progress already made, and the sustainable development of youth climbing in the east of Scotland.

The role requires a range of skills and experience. The RDO will act as an ambassador for Mountaineering Scotland and the sport of climbing, and should be an active climber with the ability to communicate with, support and inspire young people, their parents and volunteers, and to impart technical knowledge. The successful candidate should also be able to demonstrate experience of delivery and knowledge of working practices gained in a climbing wall environment.

The closing date for applications is Monday 3 April 2017. Interviews will be held in Perth on Monday 10 April 2017.

Full details of the role and details on how to apply can be seen on our vacancies page.
