Living Dangerously - Sir Ranulph Fiennes

Tuesday 17th July 2018, 2:57pm

Explorer Sir Ranulph Fiennes will be speaking at a talk in Edinburgh later this month, talking about his life 'Living Dangerously'.

And Mountaineering Scotland members are eligible for a discount on the ticket price.

Named by the Guinness Book of Records as ‘the world’s greatest living explorer’, Sir Ranulph has spent his life in pursuit of extreme adventure, risking life and limb in some of the most ambitious private expeditions ever undertaken.

Amongst his many record-breaking achievements, he was the first to reach both Poles, the first to cross the Antarctic and Arctic Ocean, and the first to circumnavigate the world along its polar axis.

In Living Dangerously, Sir Ranulph offers a personal journey through his life, from his early years to the present day. Both light-hearted and poignant, Living Dangerously spans his childhood and school misdemeanours, his army life and early expeditions, right through the three-year Transglobe Expedition to his current Global Reach Challenge, in which he aims to become the first person in the world to cross both polar ice caps and climb the highest mountain on each of the seven continents.

There will also be a Q&A session.

The event is at the Usher Hall in Edinburgh at 7.30 pm on 27 July.

Tickets for the event are priced at £32.50 (£23.50), booking fee included, but Mountaineering Scotland members can save £5 on this price. When booking online the code 'CLIMB' should be entered in the coupon box at the checkout, or simply quoted when calling at the box office on 0131 228 1155.
