Members portal update - information for members

Wednesday 23rd March 2022, 1:50pm

Members will be familiar with JustGo, the online portal for members of Mountaineering Scotland, where you can manage your membership, update personal details including address and email, book courses and events and access some of our member-only discount codes.

We have been working with our supplier, Azolve, to update our system to make use of the latest features and upgrades. This will bring many benefits for members, clubs and our admin staff in terms of functionality and ease of use, and we outline the main features that may be of interest to members below.

What's new in the membership journey?

Annual subscription by card or direct debit

Join Mountaineering Scotland - family membership

In addition to annual direct debit subscriptions through our supplier GoCardless, automatic membership renewal is now available using credit or debit card payments. This choice is available when creating a new membership or renewing a current or lapsed membership online by choosing the ‘Subscription’ option and choosing either ‘Pay by Card’ (to make a regular card payment) or ‘Pay by Bank’ (to create an annual direct debit). Members will receive notification 30 days before their renewal payment is due.

One off payments are still possible by both the above methods. If you have an existing direct debit, this will continue as normal unless you choose to change to card payment through the ‘Finance’ tile (see below).

Donations

Many of our members choose to add a donation when they renew their membership or book an event, and this is now an integral part of the membership or event purchase, rather than in the shopping cart.

When added as part of a membership purchase, this can be a one off donation or an annual subscription which you can manage through the ‘Finance’ tile (see below).

Family and joint membership

Join Mountaineering Scotland - family membership

The upgraded system processes family and joint memberships in a new way, with a family/joint membership category to choose from in the Membership options, which we believe makes it a much clearer process to create and renew family and joint memberships.

If you have an existing family or joint membership, this has been migrated to the new process, so you don’t need to do anything, but you will notice a difference if you log in to the portal to renew your membership.

Family booking for events

Anyone linked as a ‘family’ group can now book events for other members of the family group in the same transaction, so no more having to log into multiple accounts to book climbing comps or other events!

You don’t need to have family or joint membership to do this, you can simply join with others in your household as a family in order to make use of this function and book events more easily.

Family members in clubs can also now be linked to make booking events for multiple family members easier too.

Keeping your details up to date

My profile - your contact and communication preferences

To update any of your personal details including address, email and phone number, simply log into JustGo and go to the 'My Profile' section, then click 'Update Details'. Here you can also add an emergency contact and change your communication preferences (Opt-ins), including how you receive Scottish Mountaineer magazine and which email newsletters we send you.

Member details

The member details section includes questions on your ethnicity and any disabilities. This information is only visible to you and is used by us anonymously for our own equalities monitoring, to help us provide services that meet our members' needs, and to report to our funders.

Finance and payment details

Click on the menu at the top left corner and you'll notice some tiles including 'Payments' and 'Finance'.

The Payments tile allows you to access receipts for any payments you have made through the membership system.

The Finance tile allows you to amend details or cancel any direct debits or annual membership subscriptions you have in place.
