Make a donation

Mountaineering Scotland is a not-for-profit company and we rely on the support of our members to continue our work.

All the income we receive from memberships and donations is ploughed back into our campaigns and services for the hill walking, mountaineering and climbing community. If you think what we do is a good thing, find out more about the ways you can donate here...

Big or small, we value any donation you can afford to make. You can be confident it will contribute to one or all of our four priority areas of activity. If you wish to, you can define your preference at the time of making your gift:

Protecting our mountains

Help us stand up for the outstanding wildness and natural beauty of Scotland's mountains and hills. We give an authoritative voice to mountain lovers, monitoring and challenging the pressure for unsuitable developments in these landscapes.

Championing access and conservation

We uphold everyone's right to roam, responsibly. Our Access Officer assists with resolving access issues and represents hill walkers, climbers and mountaineers nationally on improving opportunities to explore Scotland's mountains.

Promoting mountain skills and safety

Support us in giving hill walkers and mountaineers a spirit of adventure and self-reliance with the knowledge and skills they need to meet the challenges of Scotland's awesome mountains and hills. Our Mountain Safety Advisor offers affordable courses, free talks, educational resources and advice to members, clubs, the media and general public.

Getting young people climbing

Our ClimbScotland team helps inspire young people to get climbing - indoor and outdoors - while giving parents, schools, colleges, youth organisations and climbing walls the skills and support to meet kids' climbing needs. With competitions, coaching and clubs, we aim to nurture a lifelong passion for mountaineering activities.

It is easy to make a donation, either online, by telephone or post. Please see your options below. If you have a preference for whether the donation contributes towards a specific area of our work, please make us aware by phone, email or post at the time you make the donation. We will acknowledge all donations with a thank you letter. If you have any further questions, please get in touch on 01738 493942 or email us at info@mountaineering.scot.

Legacy in your will

If you have enjoyed hill walking, mountaineering and climbing during your lifetime, you may like to help future generations share your passion or protect the mountain landscapes whose timeless qualities we cherish.

Remembering Mountaineering Scotland with a gift in your Will allows you to make a significant contribution to our work, which costs you nothing today.

How to do this:

  • Instruct your solicitor to leave either a percentage or cash sum from the residue of your estate - plus whether you would like it to go towards a specific area of our work - care of the Treasurer, Mountaineering Scotland, The Granary, West Mill Street, Perth, PH1 5QP.

Donation in memory

If your loved one, family or friend has passed away, you might like to dedicate donations received in their memory, or in lieu of floral tributes at the time of their funeral, to a cause or pastime that meant a lot to them.

We will recognise your donation (if you wish) and the name of your loved one, plus a photo of them enjoying the hills, on our website and in our annual Treasurer's report.

How to do this:

  • Please contact us on 01738 493942 or info@mountaineering.scot with details of your donation and who it is in memory of - plus whether you would like it to go towards a specific area of our work.
