The future of guidebooks

Thursday 3rd August 2017, 11:42am

The Scottish Mountaineering Club is well known for its high quality guidebooks, for climbing, walking and scrambling.

Now they’re looking to stay ahead of the game with an online survey to see what people want from their guides, looking for ways to improve the presentation, content and usefulness of all their guides.

The 10-minute survey – with a prize as an added incentive – will gather information that will determine the future look of the SMC’s publications.

It asks questions like whether people prefer separate guides to an area’s summer and winter routes, whether sport and trad climbing should be in the same or separate guides, whether selective or comprehensive guides are preferred, what people value most in walking guides…

If you use SMC guidebooks then it’s worth having your say – and by completing the survey you also get the chance to win the SMC climbing or walking guide of your choice.

Take the survey now.
