Royal Scottish Geographical Society (RSGS) and Tiso the outdoor retail specialist have announced a three-year partnership to bring the Scottish public tales of high adventure.
From September to March each year the Royal Scottish Geographical Society (RSGS) hosts almost 100 talks across Scotland, which showcase real-life stories of daring and adventure from some of the world’s most inspirational speakers.
This year, the line-up of Inspiring People evening talks includes a run of ten dates from world-renowned underwater cameraman Doug Allan, round-the-world adventurer Jason Lewis (the first man to circumnavigate the globe by human power) and Grand-Slam explorer David Hempleman-Adams.
With the support of Tiso Group, from Inverness and Aberdeen to Stirling, Helensburgh, Ayr, Edinburgh and Galashiels, the series of inspirational talks will be held across 13 Scottish towns and cities.
The talks will be free for RSGS members and £10 for non-members. Holders of the Tiso Outdoor Experience card will also receive special offers for entrance to Inspiring People talks.
Speaking about the RSGS/Tiso partnership, Mike Robinson RSGS Chief Executive said: “The RSGS Inspiring People Talks Programme is always packed with incredible stories from many of the leading adventurers, travellers and scientists around.
“We look forward to welcoming some truly inspirational speakers this year and hope that our audiences will themselves be motivated to take on their own personal adventures.
“We are particularly excited to be partnering with Tiso the outdoor retail specialist and hope that our speakers and their stories will reach an even wider audience this year”.
Chris Tiso, Chief Executive of Tiso Group, added: “For over 50 years, Tiso has proudly offered customers a choice of high quality technical equipment and apparel to pursue their own outdoor adventures. For many years we have also supported a number of Scotland’s greatest explorers, including Polar Academy founder Craig Mathieson and Everest summiteer Polly Murray.
“We warmly welcome this partnership with RSGS and I am sure across the country our customer’s and staff will enjoy the forthcoming talks that highlight the extraordinary strength of character and spirit of some of the world’s leading adventurers.”
