There have been some great results for the GB Climbing Team at the World Youth Climbing Championships in Guangzhou, China, with Scottish climber William Bosi achieving second place in the Combined category – which would equate to a Silver at the Olympics.

William attained 12th place in the Lead category, 28th in the Speed and 3rd in the Bouldering. But these placings equated to second place in the new Combined category, which is how medals will be awarded in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, for a combination of scores in lead, speed and bouldering.

Bouldering was the GB Team’s best event, with Tara Hayes taking second and William Bosi third, and both Molly Thompson-Smith and Jim Pope achieving places in the first 10.

Congratulating William on his achievement, Mountaineering Scotland’s Sport Development Officer Kevin Howett said: “William has been at the top of his game for some years now and is one of the most consistent performers in the GB Junior Teams. He is also one of the few young climbers performing in all three disciplines and his ‘silver’ podium place in China, shows he has real talent at the combined event.”
