Round 3 Results
Report by Kevin Howett
Round 3 of the SNBL was held at Transition Extreme last weekend with 21 of those competing at the wall taking part in the League.
There were no changes in the Junior Category leaders with Kirsten Taylor remaining 1st in the Junior Female notching up 200 SNBL points by competing at TX as did Jack Mckechnie, to remain in 1st in the Junior Male and pulling away from his rival David Miedzybrodzki who remains at 80 SNBL points. Come on juniors! There are still three rounds to go and every opportunity to get onto the podium in both categories and win some superb Allcord prizes.
In the Adult Female category, Alison McDougal came 3rd at Transition but retains her overall 1st place whilst Adja Remskar moves into 2nd place overall. Having taken a 1st place at Transition Adja is now only one point behind Alison. Rachel Carr, who has only one round under her belt, moves into 5th place but she can no doubt pull that back at the next three rounds! In her first round of SNBL Lien Nguyen picked up 80 points for coming 2nd at Transition and moves into 6th place overall. There are the beginnings of a battle for 3rd and 4th place between Laura Begbie and Joy Carters. Laura came 4th in the round and drops a place to 3rd while Joy sits at 4th with only a few points difference at the Transition competition. Also new to SNBL at this round was Annaelle Harris who picked up 40 SNBL points and sits at 10th overall.
The Adult Male category was won by Richard Abel picking up 100 SNBL points and taking him to 2nd place overall, only 20 points behind Jay Carr who came 4th at Transition but moves up to 1st place overall, although Richard has a round in hand so anything can happen in the next round. There were some new faces competing in the SNBL at Transition: Luke Fairweather came 2nd at the comp and he enters the league at joint 8th place overall, Steven Aitken gained a 3rd place at Transition and he enters the league at joint 10th, while Angus Harrison-Smith and Keith Lauder come in at 16th and 18th respectively. Matt Berry, competing at his local wall, gained a 5th place in the comp which takes him from 7th to 5th place in the league. Nicholas Rodger was 5th overall after the last 2 rounds and a 6th place at Transition secures him 3rd place in the SNBL knocking Byron Jackson from 3rd to 4th place overall.
In the Vets Female category Koon Morris continued her rein at the top where she is now 220 SNBL points ahead of her rivals. Gareth Yardley and John Sharples were the only two competing in the Vets Male category at Transition. Gareth was climbing well, retaining his 1st place position and increasing his ranking overall against John Sharples who stays at 2nd. These two competitors are now ahead by a margin and the real battle is now for 3rd place with only two SNBL points between the next three contenders.
The next round will be held at The Climbing Academy Glasgow on the 21st January, so don’t eat too much Christmas pudding!
