Monday 22nd January 2018, 2:24pm

Well-known climber Rachel Carr has been appointed to be Mountaineering Scotland’s representative and coach in our partnership with the BMC on the GB Development Squad.

Rachel is well known on the climbing and competition scene as she has been climbing since she was 12. Rachel will also be coaching the Scottish Development Squad.

Speaking about her climbing life, Rachel said: “I have been climbing for 10 years and I have competed seriously for six of those years and locally for the past two in order to focus on my outdoor abilities. As a junior, I competed on the GB team in lead and boulder and was the boulder team captain for 2014 and 2015.

“Since then I have coached a number of kids and adults in climbing from beginner to elite level. Being on the team myself has given me the knowledge and understanding I need to help and contribute as a GB coach as my experience may help others to improve.”
