Inspiring mountain women

Thursday 18th May 2017, 3:38pm

A new website and a series of courses at Glenmore Lodge have been inspired by the success of the Women’s Winter Week held in March.

Mountain Inspired is a hub to bring together a range of information sources, inspiration and course opportunities for all women who have been, are or want to be inspired by the mountains.

And, following on from the courses run in March, there are five new summer courses for women, based at Glenmore Lodge, on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th June 2017.

The courses all aim to inspire women to learn and practice the skills to enjoy the mountains, to encourage and to build confidence in a supportive and fun environment alongside other like-minded ladies and with female instructors who are passionate about the mountains too.

The courses are:

  • Navigation demystified – the basics of navigation so you can travel safely and confidently through the hills
  • Mountain sense – planning strategies, navigational tools, route choice and mountain safety enabling more independence and confidence in journeying in the mountains
  • Scrambling workshop – movement through steeper terrain helping to develop confidence both in ascent and descent
  • Introduction to rock climbing – the basic of rock climbing to help you to move well and confidently on rock and the use of appropriate climbing equipment and ropes
  • Lead climbing coaching – a coarse tailored to meet your coaching requirements on a one instructor to two clients basis.

See the Glenmore Lodge website for more details.
