IFSC comp at EICA Ratho

Tuesday 26th September 2017, 11:09am

EICA hosted the IFSC World Cup at the weekend for the first time for seven years. It was the fifth IFSC World Cup in Lead and Speed this year and the second IFSC ParaClimbing Cup for the year and was a sold-out event with hundreds of spectators in to see the event, many seeing speed climbing for the first time. This is the senior event, with grades and times reflecting this, and there were several GB Team members attending, including a few from Scotland. Here is how our athletes got on:

William Bosi (Edinburgh) came fresh from his Youth World Championships event at Innsbruck earlier in September, where he took 16th place in the Boulder, 23rd in the Speed with a PB and British record of 8.45 seconds, and 8th in the Lead. He then took 4th in the new Combined final which will be the Olympic format.

William was the top GB Team member in the Lead event here at Edinburgh, placing at 17th overall and maintaining his dominance as the best GB Team member at this category.

Max Milne (Aberdeen) competed in the Lead event and was the 4th highest placed GB Team member behind William, Jim Pope and Dave Barrans, placing at 39th overall – a great result for Max. He also attended the Speed event and was the top placed GB Team member at 19th, with a time of 9.14sec.

In the Para Climbing event Keith Lynch (Edinburgh) ranked 11th overall in the men’s category.

A brief report and a couple of report videos for the Lead and Speed are available on the EICA website. The further report and the full results for all the competitors and (including other members of the GB Team) can be found on the IFSC website.
