Going for speed

Wednesday 18th April 2018, 10:10am

ClimbScotland has organised a speed competition for the YCS Teams competing in the Youth Climbing Series Grand Final.

The event will be held on Sunday 29th April after the Final at EICA Ratho. This is a great opportunity to try speed against the other Teams from across the UK and Ireland for the first time. The competition is being delivered by the ClimbScotland Speed Development Squad volunteers.

There will be two styles of competition:

  • A Mini-speed for Youth D & E categories held on “The Tower” Wall using official speed holds specially set for younger climbers and only to a height of 8m
  • A Classic-speed for Youth A, B & C categories held on the only International Standard Speed Wall in the UK using the IFSC standard speed auto-belays

Entry to the competition is open to any competitor in the English, Welsh, Irish and Scottish Teams and is only £12 per person (which includes access to the arena).

Pre-booking is necessary – drop-in attendance on the day can't be accepted.

To book go to the ClimbScotland Competitions Page and click on the YCS Speed title where you will find full details of the event including rules, itinerary and a link to the booking site.

The ClimbScotland Speed Development Squad is run every Sunday morning at EICA. Follow their Facebook page to see what they get up to!
