Glen Nevis road closes for filming

Wednesday 14th March 2018, 12:22pm

Work on location filming for a feature film will mean a number of road closures this month affecting walkers and climbers.

The Glen Nevis Road (C1162) will be temporarily closed to traffic from Wednesday 21 March to Saturday 24 March 2018, as the company – Gumshoe Productions Ltd – films along the road from the Glen Nevis Youth Hostel to the Lower Falls car park, and around the set they are currently building in the Lower Falls area.

During the road closure, access to the paths and cycle routes will remain open with a minibus service to shuttle walkers and cyclists between the road closure points.

In addition to the road closure on the above dates, there will also be a stop and go system in place for the duration of the set build and removal from Monday 12 March until Thursday 29 March.

During the filming, the company will be using a helicopter, a vehicle fitted with a camera that will travel along the C1162 and a drone.

Other locations where disruption may be encountered are as follows:

Finnich Glen (Devil’s Pulpit)

The filming dates are: Wednesday 21, Thursday 22 and Friday 23 March, and Monday 26 and Tuesday 27 March 2018.

The access restrictions are currently from 0001hrs on Saturday 24 March until 2359hrs on Weds 28 March 2018. The film company’s Location Manager Scotland, Mandy Sharpe, said: “There may be times outside of the access restriction when we ask members of the public to take a slight diversion or hold for a few minutes whilst we get the scene completed.  This doesn’t normally take too long and by the time people have shown an interest in what we are doing and we’ve informed them of what we are filming, the hold time is finished.

Doire Darrach, Blackmount Estate

The filming dates are Tuesday 27, Wednesday 28 and Thursday 29 March 2018.

The C63 forest lodge road will be closed between the Bridge of Orchy (close to the forestry entrance gate) to the Forest Lodge on Monday 26, Tuesday 27 and Wednesday 28 March.

The West Highland Way will remain open as usual, and there will be a minibus service to shuttle walkers and cyclists between the road closure points if they don’t wish to use the West Highland Way. People may be asked to hold back for a few moments if filming is underway while a scene is completed.

River Affric, Cannich

The filming dates are Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 March.

Mandy Sharpe said: “We are filming along the River Affric Trail. The trails are open but we may have to request dogs are on put on a lead and there will be times when we need to ask members of the public to hold for a few minutes, if the camera is rolling, whilst we complete the filming of a scene.”

The River Affric car park, the Quarry car park and the Loch Beinn Mheadhain car park are all closed on the two filming days.
