Climbing comp live on the BBC

Tuesday 16th July 2019, 4:14pm

BBC Scotland’s ‘Adventure Show’ comes live from EICA Ratho this Friday, with a special edition on a climbing competition organised by ClimbScotland.

With a mixture of live action and pre-recorded segments, the programme will look at the three Olympic climbing disciplines: bouldering, lead and speed. The live show is set to feature the final of the ClimbScotland EICA Open lead competition.

ClimbScotland is the national governing body for sport climbing in Scotland and for many years has recognised the potential that climbing has to bring fun, challenge, comradeship, a healthy lifestyle and potentially a lifelong activity for Scotland’s young people.

As part of Mountaineering Scotland and funded by sportscotland it aims to  inspire young people to get climbing, while giving parents, schools, colleges, youth organisations and climbing walls the skills and support to meet kids' climbing needs.

Friday’s show is one of several live programmes in this series of the Adventure Show, which last week came from Pinkston Watersports in Glasgow with some serious paddlesport, and the week before at Foxlake Adventures near Dunbar with fast and furious short triathlon.

You can enjoy it all from the comfort of your own sofa on BBC Scotland channel on Friday 19th July from 7pm – 9pm and afterwards on iPlayer. You can also view it on Freeview ch 115, Sky 115 and Virgin Media 108 (HD Scotland) 162 UK.  This series is presented by Dougie Vipond, Patrick Winterton and Lauren McCallum.
