Symposium - coaching of climbing

Meet up with climbing coaches from across Scotland for this inspirational and informative gathering which only takes place once every two years. The next symposium will be scheduled for spring 2018. Dates will be announced closer to the time.

As well as the opportunity to chat with and share ideas with other coaches, there will be workshops on a wide variety of subjects, which complement the Mountain Training Coaching Awards (Level 1 and 2) and the Mountaineering Scotland FUNdamentals. Sessions also include new advice presented by experts from the University of Abertay.

The Symposium is aimed at:

  • Mountaineering Scotland endorsed coaches
  • Instructors (CWA, SPA and MIA holders) indoors and outdoors
  • Climbing wall youth squad coaches
  • Volunteers, parents, instructors and coaches working within ClimbScotland Kids Clubs
  • Older children mentoring within the ClimbScotland Kids Clubs (minimum age for attendance is 14 years)
  • Anyone working towards their MT Coaching Awards

Continuing Personal Development:

The symposium will give 1.0 CPD point for any Mountain Training Association (MTA) and AMI members attending.
